What is Kontanthjælp ?
Kontanthjælp is a public benefit for people who do not, are unable to support themselves or their families (in Polish, kontanthjælp can be compared to the so-called unemployment benefit).
How much financial assistance can I get ?
The size of the cash benefit depends on a number of factors, including whether you have child support obligations, or whether you have any assets or income. If you are married, your spouse's assets and income affect the amount of cash benefits you can receive.
The municipality cannot provide assistance if you or your potential spouse have assets that can cover your financial needs. These may, for example, be values that can be easily converted into money. However, the municipality disregards amounts up to DKK 10. 000, and for spouses jointly up to DKK 20. 000 (i.e. you can't have more than, for example, kr 10,000 in a bank account per person). The municipality also disregards the portion of property that is necessary to maintain or achieve the necessary housing standard, or that should be maintained by taking into account your or your family's employment or educational opportunities. The municipality also omits a number of specific types of assets.
Rates in 2021 for monthly..:
Individuals who are 30 years of age or older and support children are 15.547 DKK gross
Other people who are over 30 years old are 11.698DKK gross
