Residence permit and yellow card

Information

Residence permit(residence registration)
As an EU citizen, you are free to enter Denmark.

If you plan to stay in Denmark less than 3 months, you do not need to apply for a residence permit (otherwise known as a certificate of residence, registration of residence). If you are looking for a job, you can stay in Denmark for up to 6 months before obtaining a residence permit.

If, on the other hand, you plan to stay in Denmark longer than 3 months (Or six months if you will be looking for a job), you must Apply for a residence permit.

In case you are working in Denmark and intend to bring family, a “residence permit” is needed for them as well.

If your basis for residency changes - for example, if you stop working or studying - you must apply for a new residency document for other reasons - for example, as a person with sufficient means.

When you have fulfilled the conditions for residence in Denmark for five years continuously , you can - regardless of whether you are a citizen of an EU country or a country outside the EU / EEA or Switzerland - apply for permanent residence under EU regulations.

Attention: Failure to obtain a residence permit in the event of an inspection, in the worst case scenario, risks a fine or imprisonment for up to one year and expulsion by Denmark with a ban on entering Denmark for a specified period of time (at least 2 years). Inspections are carried out by various methods including unannounced visits to workplaces, where SIR, Police and SKAT take action to combat those working illegally in Denmark.
